Happy 50th birthday, Devo! The iconic new wave band started at Kent State University five decades ago — and to celebrate this momentous year, the band will release a retrospective compilation on Oct. 20.
50 Years of De-Evolution will feature tunes spanning 1973 to 2023, and it will be available in a four-LP clear vinyl set ($124.98), along with 2-CD ($24.98) and 2-LP black vinyl ($39.98) versions.
While primarily focusing on past favorites, the set will also feature a new seven-inch version of their single "Disco Dancer," released today.
“This box set represents a great cross-section of early experiments and later creations," says Mark Mothersbaugh in a news release. "I was looking to create a new sound, a concept in art and music that represented a new way of thinking about life on planet earth. With Devo, I think we did just that. Farewell to the first 50, Let's get the next 50 started!”
The set is available for pre-order on Rhino's website, store.rhino.com.
