The likelihood of the Cleveland Browns making a deep playoff run took a dramatic hit on Wednesday morning when the team announced that starting quarterback Deshaun Watson would miss the rest of the season with an injury to his throwing shoulder.

The injury occurred in Sunday’s 33-31 win in Baltimore over the AFC North-rival Ravens.

The Browns now will reportedly turn to backup quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson,  as the starter.

Thompson-Robinson has started one game for the Browns. He filled in for Watson back on Oct. 1 against the Baltimore Ravens, a 28-3 loss. The rookie quarterback was a fifth-round selection in this past April's NFL Draft out of UCLA.

The other option for the Browns at quarterback is P.J. Walker. Walker has started a pair of games for the Browns this year that Watson missed due to injury, going 1-1. He also played the majority of the game in a win over the Indianapolis Colts last month.

The Browns will play host to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday afternoon at Cleveland Browns Stadium, with the winner potentially taking over first place in the AFC North.
