Cleveland Guardians Rally to Beat the Detroit Tigers in ALDS Game 4: DMan's Takeaways

Thanks to a thrilling pinch-hit, two-run home run from David Fry, the Cleveland Guardians even up the series against the Detroit Tigers with an exciting 5-4 win in ALDS Game 4. The series returns to Cleveland on Saturday at 8:08 p.m. for the deciding game five.

Takeaway One: Guardians force a Game 5
Against the backdrop of a hostile away crowd, Cleveland rallied late with two runs in the seventh and one in the ninth to secure a dramatic win, forcing a deciding Game 5 at home.What a performance with their backs to the wall down to one in the best of five. Gritty gutty in every sense of the word, the Guardians now force a game five in Cleveland on Saturday. 

Takeaway Two: David Fry’s clutch performance. 
Fry delivered a critical pinch-hit, two-run homer to give the Guardians the lead, followed by a safety squeeze in the ninth for an important insurance run. "David, 'may I have a Fry with that,' comes up huge for manager Steven Vogt," says Manoloff.

Takeaway Three: Steven Vogt’s strategic brilliance. 
Manager Steven Vogt, criticized after Game 3, made key decisions, including the successful pinch hit and squeeze play, helping Cleveland secure the win. "Excellent job by Steven Vogt — Vogt the GOAT — getting off the canvas yesterday and coming back with a big victory today," says Manoloff.
