The biannual event from Cleveland Independents is designed to raise awareness for local restaurants.

There are plenty of great reasons to eat in March, whether it's hitting a fish fry or getting a St. Patrick's Day corned beef sandwich.

From March 4-16, Cleveland Independents offers another reason to get out to your favorite spots — the spring campaign of its Cleveland Restaurants Week, which is designed to raise awareness for Northeast Ohio's independent eateries. During the event, local restaurants offer three-course meals for $39 or less.

Now in its 18th year, the awareness campaign, which also happens in November, is specifically designed to help participating restaurants through the year's most difficult months. While many restaurants see a gift-card bump in January after the holidays and steady traffic around Valentine's Day, March is often a difficult lull.

About 40 members are participating this time around. Here are some of the highlights we saw on the Spring 2024 menus, which are all available at clevelandindependents.com:

  • For $25, Gordon Square's Blue Habanero Street Tacos & Tequila is offering a first course of momias or jalapenos nortenos, a taco dinner and a choice of house-made flan or tres leches cake for dessert.
  • Enjoy a buffalo cauliflower dip, seitan gyro with crispy potatoes and a cupcake from Cleveland Vegan for $28.
  • Chagrin Falls pizza joint ETalian gives you a choice of arugula or greek salad, any wood-fired 10-inch pizza and the choice of a cannoli or gelato for $23.
  • Melt locations in Akron, Independence, Mentor and Lakewood are offering a $51 take-out dinner for two with your choice of kettle chips and dip or spinach artichoke dip, roasted garlic tomato soup, four bean vegetarian chili, a house salad, macaroni and cheese and The Melt Reuben grilled cheese.
  • YumVillage, the fast-casual West African concept on Cleveland State University's campus, has a build-your-own grab and go chicken or vegan bowl with a side and a drink for $19.99.
