Perfectly timed for the chilly winter season, Cool Beans Cafe has introduced a new, wildly popular item to its menu: soup flights.

At $10, customers can sample four different soups from the cafe’s menu. Owner Laura Cavey says the restaurant always has a chili and tomato-basil bisque on the menu, but other soups like carrot-ginger, lobster bisque, minestrone and chicken noodle cycle through.

“You can come three days in a row and get three different flights,” Cavey says.

Cool Beans, which has offered coffee flights for the past two years, decided to expand into soup flights after a customer shared the idea on social media.

“I love that my customers tag me and say, ‘Oh, she’ll do this,’” Cavey says. “I already had the adorable little cups and flight boards, so I thought, ‘Why not?’”

Available for just over a week, the soup flights have been a hit with customers, according to Cavey. Flights can also be upgraded to a two-person meal with a grilled cheese panini or sandwich for an additional $7.

Beyond the soup flights, Cool Beans Cafe extended its coffee flight options into a hot cocoa flight, friendly for children and for diners who don’t drink caffeine. Coffee and hot cocoa flights cost $10.99.

Cavey also noted that Medina Foodie Fest will celebrate local dining options like Cool Beans Cafe starting on Tuesday, Jan. 10. The festival runs through Jan. 22, with a variety of specials and prizes.
