The Cleveland Cavaliers have found their new head coach.

The team is hiring Kenny Atkinson, according to multiple reports. ESPN was the first to report the news.

Atkinson comes to the Cavaliers with nearly two decades of coaching experience in the NBA. He most recently was the lead assistant to Steve Kerr with the Golden State Warriors. Before that, he was the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets from 2016 to 2020.

While in Brooklyn, Atkinson amassed a record of 118-190. He took over a franchise that had been severely hampered by poor trades before his arrival and took the Nets to the playoffs in his third year on the job.

Atkinson is thought of in league circles as an offensive-oriented coach and someone who can help to elevate the Cavaliers, who are better known for their defense. While he was in Brooklyn, he coached Jarrett Allen and Caris LeVert, both currently on the Cavs.
