"Shooting Stars" Trailer: LeBron James Film Goes Back to Where It All Began

Shooting Stars, the Peacock film that follows LeBron James from his pre-high school years through his rise to stardom at St. Vincent-St. Mary in Akron, will debut on the network on June 2.

We got a first look at the film with the release of the trailer on YouTube.

It follows LeBron and his three closest friends through their times in Akron and is based on a book of the same name that LeBron wrote with Buzz Bissinger. 

Chris Robinson is the film's director. Marquis “Mookie” Cook plays James in his film debut, according to a release from NBC. Caleb McLaughlin will play Lil Dru Joyce, Avery S. Wills, Jr. as Willie McGee and Khalil Everage as Sian Cotton.

The four moved together and were coached by Keith Dambrot at SVSM, and the rest is history. They remain friends, and LeBron reminded everyone of that with his social media posts.

Just a quick trip through history: LeBron started making waves in basketball as a high school freshman, but he always played the game by keeping his teammates involved. He probably could have scored a lot more in high school but he passed the basketball.

You see in this film just how important his friends and teammates were. 

And despite getting some criticism as a youngster, LeBron might have known what he was doing.
